Deep Tissue

Release Chronic Tension

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on reaching the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. It involves slow, firm pressure and deliberate strokes to target specific muscle groups. The therapist uses their fingers, knuckles, elbows, or even forearms to apply pressure along the muscle fibers. This technique is particularly beneficial for releasing chronic tension, improving circulation, and breaking down adhesions (knots) that can develop within muscles due to overuse, injury, or stress. While deep tissue massage can be intense, communication between the client and therapist is crucial to ensure the pressure is within the client’s comfort level. Trigger Point Therapy, on the other hand, hones in on trigger points—small, highly sensitive knots within muscles that can refer pain to other areas of the body. These trigger points often develop due to muscle overuse, strain, or injury. During a trigger point therapy session, the therapist applies direct pressure to these specific points, often resulting in a “release” sensation as the knot dissipates and the associated pain decreases. This technique can be incorporated into a deep tissue massage or used as a focused approach to alleviate localized pain and discomfort.

Valuable Tools

Both Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger Point Therapy can be valuable tools for addressing chronic pain, improving range of motion, and promoting relaxation. However, it’s important to communicate your preferences and any sensitivities to the therapist, as these techniques can sometimes cause temporary discomfort before providing relief. Consulting with a trained and experienced massage therapist will ensure that the techniques are applied safely and effectively to meet your individual needs and goals.
